Adding default settings to new booking.com listings

After we have created the booking.com listing in Guesty, we need to make sure that the settings are correct in booking.com itself. These settings are related to adding policies, payment methods etc.

Step 1: Go to admin.booking.com

Step 2: Search for "FANTASTIC 2 BEDROOM/2 BATHROOM DUPLEX WITH YARD- 15 MINS TO NYC!" and click on property name to go to listing details page

Always use the "FANTASTIC 2 BEDROOM/2 BATHROOM DUPLEX WITH YARD- 15 MINS TO NYC!" listing to copy settings from. This listing will always have the most up to date cancelation policy.
  1. Click on Property
  2. Click on Policies

Step 4:  Go to Cancellation & Prepayment Policies section

Step 5:  Click on "Apply to other properties"

Step 6:  Go to "Select properties to apply to" section in pop-up

Step 7:  Tick the check boxes to select properties

You can click on "Select all" to select all the properties in one go.
  1. Click on check boxes to select properties. You need to tick on the boxes for the properties which were newly added from Guesty.
  2. Click on Next to go to confirmation pop-up

Step 8:  Click on "Apply to selected"

Step 9:  Go to home page and click on the listing to which policy was copied

  1. Click on Property
  2. Click on Policies

Step 11:  Go to Cancellation & Prepayment Policies section

Property should now have the policy added to it.

Step 12: Go to "Other Policies" section and click on "Edit" button for "Guest Payment Options"

Step 13: Set the card types

  1. Click on "Yes"
  2. Select cards listed below (these cards will be listed always) -
    1. American Express
    2. Euro/Mastercard
    3. JCB
    4. Discover
    5. Visa
    6. Diners Club
  3. Click on "Save"

Step 14: Go to "Credit Card exceptions" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 15: Do not select any of the checkboxes

Make sure none of the boxes are checked on this settings pop-up.

Step 16: Click on "Save" to return to Policies page

Step 17: Go to "Cancellation Exceptions" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 18: Do not select any of the checkboxes

Step 19: Click on "Save" to return to Policies page

Step 20: Go to "Children & Extra Beds" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 21: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -
    1. Can you accommodate children? - Yes
    2. Can kids stay in existing beds? - No (this will always be No)
    3. Can you provide extra beds? - No (this will always be No)
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 22: Go to "Internet and parking" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 23: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 24: Go to "Guest Information" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 25: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property. Below fields should be "No" in the form -
    1. "Want to know your guests' estimated arrival time in advance?"
    2. "Can guests book without providing address details?"
    3. "Can guests book without providing a phone number?"
    4. Age Limit
    5. Curfew
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 26: Go to "Guest Requirements" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 27: Select the following options

  1. Set the options as below -
    1. "Do you want guests to provide a verified phone number?" - Yes
    2. "Do you want guests to have at least one previous stay on Booking.com ?" - No
    3. "Do you want guests to add their address details?" - Yes
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 28: Click on "Go back to policies"

Step 29: Go to "Additional Fees & Charges" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 30: Select all the options that apply to the property

Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -

  1. "Do your guests pay a damage deposit?" - Yes
  2. "Enter the damage deposit amount (per stay)" - Standard for this is $300. The amount should match the number in Guesty.
  3. "How do you want to collect this payment?" - Credit Card
  4. "When will you collect this?" - Up to 7 days before arrival
  5. "How do you want to return the damage deposit" - Credit Card.
    1. If the only option available is cash, make an Asana task for Mike McKay named "Reach out to booking.com rep to enable credit card security deposits". Put the address of the property and the link in the description of the Asana task and make the task due tomorrow.
  6. "When will damage deposits be returned?" - Up to 7 days after checkout
  7. "Will guests incur any additional fees at your property?" - Yes
  8. "Type of fee" - Cleaning Fee
  9. "Included in price" - No
  10. "Payment type" - US$/Stay
  11. "Amount" - This amount should match the cleaning fee amount in Guesty.

Click on "Save".

Step 31: Click on "Go back to policies"

Step 32: Go to "Key Pickup" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 33: Select all the options that apply to the property

Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -

  1. "How do guests enter your property?" - There's a door code
  2. "What else do guests need to know to get inside?" Enter the text below.
    1. We will send the codes 2 days before arrival as long as you have verified your ID and paid in full.
  3. Click on "Save changes"

Step 34: Go to "Genius Freebies" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 35: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -
    1. "Free Wifi" - Should be checked
    2. "Guarantee the availability of this perk to all Genius users" - Should be checked
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 36: Go to "House Rules" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 37: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -
    1. "Do you allow smoking?" - No
    2. "Are parties/events allowed?" - No
    3. "Does your property have set quiet hours?" - Yes
    4. "Guests need to be quiet between?" - 8:00PM and 8:00AM
    5. "Do you allow pets?" - No
  2. Click on "Save"

Step 38: Go to "Prevent bookings that are likely to be canceled" section and click on "Edit" button

Step 39: Select all the options that apply to the property

  1. Select all the options that apply for the property. Set the options as below -
    1. "Do you want to opt to this feature?" - No
  2. Click on "Save"
