Check booking.com settings

Once we have created a booking.com listing, we need to verify and make sure that we have all the correct settings before we go live.

Step 1: Go to "Property" and click on "VAT/Tax/Charges".

Step 2: Check information in "VAT/Tax/Charges".

Information on this page should match with the information in Guesty.

  1. Tax - Should match with the tax percentage in Guesty
  2. Cleaning fee - Should match with the cleaning fee in Guesty
  3. Damage deposit - Should match with damage deposit in Guesty

Step 3: Click on "Policies".

Step 4: Go to "Cancellation & Prepayment Policies" section and check information.

Cancellation policy for the property should exactly match with the cancellation policy below -

"The guest can cancel free of charge until 30 days before arrival. The guest will be charged the total price if they cancel in the 30 days before arrival.

The guest will be charged a prepayment of the total price anytime.

You'll accept prepayment by: Credit card. You'll refund within: 14 days."

Step 5: Go to "Guest Payment Options" section and check information.

Payment options should be American Express, Visa, Euro/Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB and Discover.

Step 6: Go to "Credit card exceptions" section and check information.

It should say "You have 0 of 4 credit card exception selected".

Step 7: Go to "Cancellation Exceptions" section and check information.

Should be "Nothing selected".

Step 8: Go to "Children & Extra Beds" section and check information.

Should be "All children are welcome" and "There is no capacity for extra beds in the room".

Step 9: Go to "Internet and parking" section and check information.

Internet - It should be "Wifi is available in the hotel rooms and is free of charge".

Parking - It will be property dependent. Parking information should match with the information we have in Helpocs for parking.

Step 10: Go to "Guest information" section and check information.

Following settings are standard across all listings -

  1. Check-in & Check-out Times -
  • Check-in from 4:00 PM
  • Check-out from until 11:00 AM
  1. Guest Address Details - "Your guests must provide their address details when they book"
  2. Guest Phone Number - "Your guests must provide a phone number when they book"
  3. Age Limit - "No age limit Curfew new"
  4. Curfew - "Nothing selected"

Step 11: Go to "Guest Requirements" section and check information.

Following settings are standard across all listings and should be selected -

  • Guests need a verified phone number to book.
  • Guests can book without a previous stay on Booking.com.
  • Guests need to provide their address to book.

Step 12: Go to "Additional fees & charges" section and check information.

Damage Deposit - Settings should be as below

  • Your guests pay a damage deposit of: This should match the number in Guesty
  • You collect your damage deposit by: Credit card
  • You collect this from your guests: Up to 7 days before arrival
  • You return your damage deposit by: Credit card
  • You return this to your guests: Up to 7 days after check-out

Additional Fees - Settings should be as below

  • Taxes- should match the number in Guesty
  • Cleaning fee- should match the number of Guesty and say not included in price

Step 13: Go to "Key Pickup" section and check information.

  1. Select the option which matches the listing, E.g. "The keys are in a lockbox on-site".
  2. Should show - "We will send the codes 2 days before arrival as long as you have verified your ID and paid in full."

Step 14: Go to "Genius Freebies" section and check information.

Should always say "Free WiFi - Genius guests will get free WiFi" at the property.

Step 15: Go to "House Rules" section and check information.

Following settings are standard across all listings and should be selected -

  • Smoking is not allowed.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Parties/events are not allowed.
  • Quiet hours are between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Step 16: Go to "Prevent bookings that are likely to be canceled" section and check information.

Nothing should be selected in this section.
