249 2nd St Internet Instructions and Troubleshooting

These instructions can only be administered by guests of Unit 1. If the internet is out in Unit 2 we need to reach out to the guests of unit 1 and relay these instructions to them.

The internet in this building is supplied from the garden apartment (unit 1) and is distributed throughout the building using a google wifi mesh network (white/circular nodes).

Why isn't the internet working?

Step 1:

Check the router in the living room of the garden apartment (unit 1)

The router is black and to the right of the television.

If the lights are on and all white proceed to step 2

If the lights are on and one is red then proceed to step 5

Step 2:

Check the white/round google wifi node behind the television

If the light ring around the center is white then the internet is working, make sure the guests are connected to Stayd and are using the correct password (travelwell)

If the light ring around the center is red then proceed to step 3

If the google wifi node has no light then proceed to step 4

Step 3:

Plug the ethernet cable from the white/round google wifi node into slot 1 behind the router.

After following these steps wait 5 minutes for the internet to return and then return to step 1 if the issue is not resolved

Step 4:

Plug the google wifi node into the power strip behind the television.

After following these steps wait 5 minutes for the internet to return and then return to step 1 if the issue is not resolved

Step 5:

In this case the power cable to the ONT box is probably unplugged

  • The power source is behind the grey couch in the living room of the garden apartment
  • Some guests think this controls the lights and unplug it to turn them off
  • See the photos below for context
  • Make sure this is plugged in
  • After following these steps wait 5 minutes for the internet to return and then return to step 1 if the issue is not resolved
